How to Use AI to Find Your Own Success and Failure Patterns
A 4-step way to make AI find the patterns behind your wins and failures.
Most people use AI to answer questions. But AI can do something far more useful: it can help you understand yourself — your real strengths, your real weaknesses, and the patterns that keep repeating in your life.
Once AI knows your story, every answer it gives is built around YOU, not generic advice.
Here is the exact 4-step process I use.
Step 1 — Tell the AI your own stories
Open Claude (or any strong AI) and tell it your real history. Not just the wins — the failures too.
- The businesses that worked, and the ones that failed.
- The jobs you were great at, and the ones you struggled in.
- The projects you finished, and the ones you abandoned.
Be honest. The failures matter more than the wins, because that’s where the pattern hides.
Example from me: I told it about my lecture business, my software company that failed, my VC years, and my crypto wins and losses.
Step 2 — Ask it to find your success pattern and your failure pattern
Now ask one simple question:
“Based on my stories, what is my success pattern and my failure pattern?”
The AI will look across everything you told it and find the thread you couldn’t see yourself.
Example from me: It found that I succeed when I do front-end work — selling, presenting, building audience. And I fail when I do the grind — repetitive, low-energy work over a long time. Once I saw this clearly, my decisions got easier. I stopped fighting my weakness and started building around my strength.
Step 3 — Ask it to write a document about you
Ask the AI:
“Write a markdown document about me — my background, my strengths, my weaknesses, my patterns, and how I work best.”
It will produce a clean summary of who you are. Read it. Fix anything wrong. Add anything missing. This becomes your personal “operating manual.”
Step 4 — Upload the document into a project
Most AI tools let you create a “project” and add files to it. Upload your document there.
From now on, every time you ask that AI for advice, it already knows your situation. You don’t have to re-explain yourself every time. The advice comes back personal — built around your real strengths, weaknesses, and goals.
Why this works
Generic advice is built for the average person. You are not average. When the AI knows your actual patterns, it stops giving you advice that fits everyone and starts giving you advice that fits YOU.
The biggest unlock is Step 2 — seeing your own pattern. Most people repeat the same failure their whole life without ever naming it. Once you name it, you can build a system around it.
That’s it. Four steps. Try it today.
